This assortment of Primary sources has been gathered to illustrate the importance of the Panama Canal as it relates to U.S. and Panamanian relations. All sources have their own unique twist to which we can help answer the project question. Some of these sources are pictures from critical events in the history such as treaties and protests. Other sources are government documents that have been declassified. All sources have links to which one may explore further into that archive. Explanations of the sources are written above the source itself and explain how that document answers our question.
It is important to note that the Panamanian Government does not release as many documents in the public domain and so most documents are from the U.S. perspective. This might not change the answer to our question, however it is still important to keep in mind.
All primary source documents are located on the right hand part of the page.
